 Riding School Inspections

At Avonvale Equine Practice, we provide comprehensive veterinary inspections for licensed riding schools across the region. Our experienced equine vets carry out detailed welfare assessments to ensure horses are healthy, comfortable and suitable for their work, while supporting establishments in meeting the standards required under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals England) Regulations 2018.

What We Do

Our inspections are designed to give riding schools confidence in their welfare standards and to support a smooth licensing process. Each visit includes:

  • Health and soundness assessment — lameness evaluation, check back, respiratory health, skin and coat assessment, and overall fitness for work.
  • Work suitability evaluation — ensuring each horse is physically capable and temperamentally appropriate for lessons.
  • Facility and management review — stabling, turnout, arena safety, feed storage, bedding, and hygiene.
  • Record and compliance check — vaccination schedules, check dental records, worming plans, farriery records, and incident logs.

Our findings are compiled into a clear, structured report for submission to your local licensing authority.
